Hi,

At the hackday in February, Bill, Peter and I, with the statistical-domain help of Euan, started work on rendering the SNS data as Linked Data.

We've now got the statistics from 2010 available at:

http://sns.linkedscotland.org/

I meant to write a longer email about the process of conversion etc ... maybe some other time :p

Thank you to Euan for answering so many questions so patiently.

Thanks K
long time to swig :-)

very cool doing!

would be interested also in the 'learning process', so please share any q/a that could be of interest to all of us

where was the data taken from
how was it manipulated
what decisions had to be made
etc

also it would be nice if the developers of these dataset could also  find a mo to explain  what information and knowledge is now available to the public, through rdf encoding of this dataset, what can one do with this data etc.
I can volunteer writing up the answers in a note if someone is interested in providing additional info as to the background process and what does it all mean :-)

Dear all,

The next Scottish Linked Data Meetup will be on 21st March in Aberdeen. The Meetup has an emphasis on connecting different groups: people who have data to share, people who want to use data and people with tools for working with linked data.

The registration page is online:

The event will start from 4:45pm, with the presentations starting from 5pm. Speakers include:

Ian Watt (e-Government Manager at Aberdeen City Council)
Bill Roberts (co-founder of Swirrl)
José Manuel Gómez-Pérez (Director of R&D at iSOCO S.A.)
Yue Pan (Chief Scientist for Information Analytics and Executive for Healthcare of IBM Research - China)

Following the presentations, there will be a discussion session on Linked Data in Scottish Local Authorities, chaired by Ian Watt & Bill Roberts.

Please feel free to forward the invitation to anyone who might be interested in it and encourage people to register.

Best wishes,

Jeff
