Hey folks - I injured my bicep tendon at the elbow; 90% tear. I'm going in for surgery on Thursday, and recovery is 8 weeks minimum. So I am now a maybe for attending NA's, and now is your chance to kick me to the back of the fleet! Philip

Ouch. Good luck with the surgery.

If it helps, I can almost guarantee that I’d still be behind even if you were sailing one-armed.

Wow, sorry to hear that! I heard somewhere California might be staying in quarantine through August, so maybe you’ll have recovered by then.

So how did you manage this feat? I hope it was legal and clean.

All I will check the county for Huntington Lake for when it might come out of “shelter in place “

As a note of interest my County  and the ones joining are now opening up shops, offices and some restaurants  all with masks, distancing and limits on the number of people in the building… we have not had a CV19 case for over 18 days )

I was putting flooring in my attic to build in some storage space in my house. I tore it carrying a piece of OSB sub flooring. I know - BORING. And I hadn't even sailed yet.

That's a nasty type of injury. I've had patients with that before. Let it heal but also work on maintaining range of motion. It's easy to loose with that type of injury.

Thanks for the heads up.

Due to it being a 90% tear, it urgently needed repair. I understand what's at stake for me, due to a history of a couple of much higher stakes and lower probability of success injuries/repairs. I seem to have a way of approaching the PT that makes recovery look like successfully squeezing blood from a turnip. The surgeon was one of the best, and the repair went perfectly, so now it is up to me to maximize the potential of his work, which I fully intend to do.

However, your concern is appreciated and duly noted.

Thanks - Philip
