There’s a map of the network at
http://actionforswifts.blogspot.com/p/sln.html
so that members of the public can find us.
Please do remember to add the SLN logo to slides, posters etc as it helps
spread the word that we’re all part of something bigger. That was the idea
of setting up the network - we’re all part of something national not just
working locally.

Hi
I'm going to be doing an interview on local radio about swifts and Aylsham Swift Group. I'd want to mention that we're part of a national movement with many local groups up and down the country. Can someone tell me how many groups there are in SLN? Thanks

swiftsloc...@gmail.com <mailto:swiftslocalnetwork@gmail.com>
Not sure now which is correct?

Hi Tony,
Our project was funded by our parish council and I asked the clerk for a
breakdown. This is her reply:
The parish council agreed to fund this project in total but some savings
could be made if people are willing and able to install the boxes
themselves or buy their own boxes. The cost to the parish council was as
follows:
Boxes £494
Installation £350
Hire of cherry picker £280 plus VAT
Total £1124
We used the PC’s handyman to install the boxes which he mainly did using
ladders but we hired a cherry picker for the less accessible locations.
The boxes were made from marine ply at cost price by a local carpenter.
Where people bought an additional box to go alongside their 'free' parish
council box, the PC also installed those at the same time.
Kind regards,
Amanda

my experience in my Grade 2 listed house was that my council advised that a
Swift Brick or box is not deemed material to reqire specific approval, but
they emphasised they retained their right to object. So they advised
discretion in deciding where to locate the bricks.
To date I have had no issues.

Hello - I work for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority (also the Planning Authority), so have opportunities to chat to the Planning Ecologist regularly. She has ensured the inclusion of swift boxes on a number of listed buildings now in Brecon, which is itself a Conservation Area. As ever, personal relationships and dialogue are invaluable - as is knowing exactly who to talk to of course.

Hi,
Has anyone got advice on installing Swift nestboxes or creating holes in a soffit board for Grade 2 listed buildings?
Have you run into any problems?
Any specific things you have had to do or not been allowed to do?
