Hello Wales residents,
The Welsh government is consulting on its National Development Framework, their equivalent to England's NPPF. The consultation closes 20/11/26:
This is an opportunity for Wales to include national decision-making policies as England now do, to fast-track policies without needing a Local Plan. As Wales tends to follow England for both planning policy and building regulations, this is perhaps our best current opportunity there.
If you are in Wales and can send in a comment, please email me at
swifts....@gmail.com and I'll reply with some thoughts by 20/10/26.
For the other nations:
I checked for any consultation in Scotland but apparently nothing at the moment, hopefully some progress in private.
Northern Ireland has not moved on since its high level (i.e. vague!) Local Nature Recovery Strategy consultation earlier in the year.
All the best,
Mike
