The Model 31

There seem to be a lot of people out there making Model 30 nest boxes. I have noticed that many of these are installed under horizontal eaves. An easier, simpler and neater design in such situations is the Model 31. 

If you have eaves 200mm wide, though I have squeezed them into 180mm, then it is a better way to go. They cost less in materials, don't need a uPVC lid and they are less work to make.

In 2021 we installed 12 double Model 31s at  our very successful project at Edgecombe flats in Cambridge (~70 pairs see https://www.facebook.com/share/1CbWwi1hMG/).

By 2023 16 of the 24 nest chambers were occupied.
