The semi improved mixed unmanaged grassland is a haven for invertebrates and thus popular swift feeding habitat..please object to MMUs planning application and let Manchester Council know how you feel about destroying these vanishing wildlife habitats in our city whilst talking about 'Nature Recovery'

PROTECT NATURE NOW!! SAVE RYEBANK FIELDS - Deadline – 26th March

Please help Save Ryebank Fields, by sending an objection to the Planning Applications to build mostly private housing on rewilded Greenfield Land.

Ryebank Fields is rewilded Greenfield land on the border of Manchester and Trafford.  South Manchester has an acknowledged deficit of green spaces, in particular nature spaces, and the City has a clear policy priority for building on Brownfield land, of which it has an excess, and for a focus on building in North and East Manchester which are much less densely developed.  Ryebank Fields was gifted in the 70s to Manchester Met University, who are now keen to benefit by selling it to developers. The Save Ryebank Fields campaign have made it as easy as possible to submit an objection to this scheme:

There are two planning applications relating to this proposal. The main one is Manchester 142223/FO/2025 and there’s a second to Trafford 115688/FUL/25, for the north access road from Rye Bank Road in Stretford. We are advising everyone to log their objections to Manchester first, as this is the most important – then to copy or forward by email that same objection in principle to Trafford, with extra wording as to why you object to an access road into Firswood being built over the Rye Bank Road Community Garden.

An objection in your own words is always the most powerful, so click here for ideas of what to include. If that feels too much, we understand! For a letter/email template, details mostly completed click here.

You can either:

·         post a letter, or

·         send an email to plan...@manchester.gov.uk and development...@trafford.gov.uk, or

·         submit your objection to Manchester and Trafford via their Planning portals – View Manchester Plans and object here View Trafford Plans and object here – for Trafford you will need to create an account. Beware, the Planning Portal website can ‘time out’ so we advise to prepare your response elsewhere then cut and paste it.

YOU MUST INCLUDE THE PLANNING REFERENCE NUMBERS GIVEN ABOVE. There is more information on our website on how to object. You can also reach out to us at ryebankfie...@gmail.com

Thank You!

Very sad yet again.  These people know nothing about nature recovery - not a thing.  I hope this gets the support it deserves - the support our wildlife and future generations deserve.
