I will just add that the Action for Swifts nest brick is my first
choice for all suitable applications ans I recommend it all the
time! Best wishes, Edward

Hi
Has anyone any experience of using recycled water pipe nest boxes on the Action for Swifts website?
Thanks! Caroline (Gosforth Swift Group)

All I can say is that the 12 or so that I know about have had Swifts in
them for years (about 7 pairs). And they have not deteriorated. e.g these 5

had
2 pairs of Swifts plus House Sparrows when we last looked.
I still have some water pipe left over.

Hi Elfyn
I think you possibly saw it in the presentation I sent a while ago, so you
should be able to copy the slide and paste it into your PPT presentation.
The footage is also available on our YouTube channel here:
https://youtu.be/F1KRpsD4hMo?si=BPucvzeAGc1og3e0.
We filmed it May 4th 2023. 2 nests on the same house. There's detail of
events in the YouTube description, get back to me if you need a fuller
account happy to give more info.

Dear All
So far this season, Action for Swifts have funded the printing and delivery of just over 6,000 of my leaflets and 1,100 booklets! Lots of you have told me how grateful you are to AfS for this huge help in spreading the message about swifts, so I’m passing that on now. Action for Swifts is a not-for-profit organisation that was born of a concern for swifts and how best we can help them. Let’s make sure we tell people about their products at every suitable opportunity as we go about persuading people to have bricks or boxes!
Best wishes

Dear Friends & Colleagues, Here is the reply I received from Alison
regarding our doubts about their Swift nest boxes. Very helpful so far!
Best wishes, Edward
Good afternoon Edward
Many thanks for your reply and also all the additional information that
you've included.
We're going to raise your points on the both the Dan Rouse box and the
Arx range too.
From my "novice" feedback, I can confirm that the Arx door latch is
very firm and would not be moved by wind/rain or even the timber moving
but I can also see your point about not wanting to shin up a ladder and
then wrestle with a firm fixing either!
Could you please leave this with me for a couple more days until I've
managed to get some feedback on your points with our team here and if we
need to redesign the Arx Swift box without the door, this is something
that we can happily do - as all these products are made in our Cotswold
workshop and (from a commercial point of view) would actually speed up
our manufacture and potentially reduce the costs too!
Thanks again for bringing this to my attention and I will get back to
you as soon as I have some updates.
Kind Regards
Alison

Andy ,i would go for North facing ,cooler and the swifts won't mind,
also i would make sure it has a real good sloping roof keeps predators
away.

Subject: [SLN] Swift box position advise
Good morning
Our award winning new bakers “Mable’s” in Downham Market have agreed to
have a double, side entrance, swift box installed on one of their
chimney stacks. It has open aspect and faces the town square and is
opposite our new town hall swift tower installation
I prefer the left hand south facing stack but does anyone advise the
opposite right hand, north facing, stack?
Thanks
Andy
