Call and response survey method - a short guide

Dear all

With the breeding season here once again I have produced this short guide to the call and response survey method for finding Swift nests. The call that I play is also attached.

Like many of you, I have found this season to be starting quite slowly in terms of Swift numbers. Nevertheless have recorded 118 nests in Hertfordshire so far this year using this method on early morning surveys.

I would be very happy to answer any questions SLN members may have about the survey method.

I shall take a look. Are you giving these out to residents with nest sites or keeping them specifically to us grass roots swifties? I ask as I think it's probably an issue of trust to share the method.
