Hello,

We are currently using Goldfish + Swiftshader OpenGles/Vulkan to render Android graphics on Linux host, but are now considering switching to SwAngle. Could you please answer a few questions about SwAngle.

How far advanced is SwAngle development? What is the status of dEQP conformance tests with SwAngle?
Do we need to use Cuttlefish instead of Goldfish to use SwAngle?

Thank you,
Irena

I can answer your 1st question:
SwANGLE is already shipped on Linux and Windows for Chrome (currently finishing MacOS) and it is more conformant than SwiftShader GL was.

Hi Irena,

SwANGLE is an officially conformant OpenGL ES 3.1 implementation!

Cuttlefish comes with SwiftShader and ANGLE as its only graphics drivers, which are continuously updated and tested, so it is recommended if you don't need the ability to switch to using the GPU where available. Goldfish has the purpose of supporting Android Studio's emulation needs during app development, so its focus lies with host-side GPU usage. Technically one can use SwANGLE with Goldfish but it currently requires some customization.

Cheers,
Nicolas
