Can you tell me how I can go about setting up my own proxy server for
use with swiftp?

Short answer: you can't.

Long answer: if you're handy with Erlang, Linux and Java, you can
check out the source code from swiftp.org and try to get it working.
This will be difficult.

Fair enough .. I'd like to use the proxy but my paranoia stops me ;)
