"ExpressInstall" is a feature that Adobe provides, and SWFObject simply
exposes, which allows end-users to have their plugin version checked, and
the plugin inline auto-updated, if necessary for the page's content. The
distribution archive provides a "expressInstall.swf" file with all the logic
already built in for you. And the parameter in question is simply a URL
that points to where you are going to store that file on your server. All
you have to do to tap into this feature is point swfobject at where the file
is.
If you don't see the need for this feature (I cannot possibly understand why
not) then simply pass 'false' for it and go on about your business and not
worry about it. :)
On a side note, I agree that the layout of the documentation in the various
wiki pages is a little daunting and there's a lot to wade through. But to
Bobby's credit, the vast majority of the time, the questions asked here
*are* answered there in some shape or form, including the one you've asked.
If you're missing information, I'd ask and suggest that you come with a
helpful attitude to the list, making suggestions for improvement (obviously
after you've exhausted all your own resources), rather than accusing the
documentation (and its author) of being deficient, when clearly it is not,
and demanding changes.
