How can I add a fullscreen background image to my site with the
swffit?

Just put the image inside your flash movie and rescale it based on the stage size.

swffit only constrain the flash movie dimensions...

yes it is possible..

can be done as an HTML background (using wmode transparent - not recommended) or setting the background inside flash (better)
