The short answer is Start AutoPIPE and select File> Open or Import> the various file formats are listed here that can be imported. If a specific format is not listed then AutoPIPE cannot import that file type directly. Instead use another software that is compatable to open your model and save it to a format that AutoPIPE can open.
1. At this time the only method to import beams is by using STAAD Pipelink. There is a tutorial document in the following folder: C:\ Bentley\ AutoPIPE V8i SELECTseries\ Documents \ PIPELINK_tutorial.pdf or search your hard drive.
2. AutoPIPE Static and Dynamic analysis use specific files with special formating; see the following help section for a complete list of supported files: Help > Contents> Contents Tab> AutoPIPE File Reference> Working Directory Files> Formatted Working Directory Files). As long as the data being imported from another program is in the correct format, and sepecified in the model, it will be used by AutoPIPE during the analysis. Otherwise, convert the imported data into an acceptable format to be used by the program or manualy update the model as required.
4. About importing load files from other programs, we apologize for the inconvenience AutoPIPE can only import the above files. However, if you could convert your load file into or manually create an AutoPIPE formated load file. Then AutoPIPE will be able to read it for analysis purposes. Please see the following AutoPIPE help section:
Help > Contents> Contents Tab> File Reference> Working Directory Files > Formatted Working Directory Files for a complete list of formated files (typical load files: THL, TIH, FS, HMF, SPC). AutoPIPE online help has details on manually creating these User-Defined files.

You'll have the ability to create a new Service request, view all Service Requests created by you or anyone else in your company, and view statistics on previous requests.
Q1 -> OK, clear, Ill just wait for an update to include the 2012 edition of EN 13480. Hopefully this wont become a 'vote-for' process where user demand will determine how quickly AutoPIPE will add this feature, as it is a basic practice to work with EN 13480 piping code acc recent editions.
Q2 -> I understand what I can do to check where AutoPIPE retrieves it's data from, but I need to know how AutoPIPE originally put that data in that file, i.e.; what source did the programmers use? Even though AutoPIPE says the know stress values for 800H at these temperatures, there must be some location in the code where it retrieved them. THATS the question I like to see answered. By now I know how the program works in terms of libraries....
Q3 -> Same reply as Q2, i.e.; I can compare VW Gold witha Seat Ibiza using google pictures, but when I ask a salesman how the camshafts of their engines differ, I dont expext the salesman to hand me the "Internal Combustion Engine Handbook" with the additon 'find out yourself', I expect him to explain me some stuff (or at least forward me to someone who can answer that question). The replies I get dont really help nor answer the question ...
I suggest you take screen shot of pipe properties grid tin B31.1 model to help you set the materials in EN13480. After you change the piping code open the pipe properties grid and double click on each line to update the material . You would need to select the source as ASME and then select the material. This will update your materials properly and will have proper allowables.
In addition to Mike reply I suggest that you let the program create non code cases by default. Any case not created by AutoPIPE will most likely not a true nonlinear case since AutoPIPE creates all the nonlinear cases that are consistent with the load sequence. You may create more than one analysis set in order to generate more cases by default.
