This was seen in earlier versions, where a bear/or Baaren is dancing in the title screen. Unfortunately, it was removed in the game for unknown reasons but it was sooner used for Capitalus and Capitalos. It is also seen on the bears with bear masks in the IMABEAR music video.

Once Baaren falls into the temple and approaches the coffin, the Guardian appears and begins to attack Baaren. First, it tries swinging its hammer at him, in which the player must dodge and wait for the Guardian to stand on a platform so they will be able to activate a switch to crush the Guardian with a block. The Guardian will also try to spawn small fennec minions to attack Baaren, but he can accidentally kill them with his hammer. Once the player has crushed the Guardian under the blocks three times, the Guardian is defeated, and he drops the key, allowing Baaren to rescue the capture bear and complete the level.
Not much is known about the Guardian other than the fact that it seems to be very protective of it's temple, as shown where it immediately tries to kill Baaren as soon as he falls into it. It also appears to have captured a bear in order to prevent it from being rescued by anyone.
