Can sweet potatoes thrive in kitale area, specifically in Ndalu scheme? I'm interested in planting. What assistance can u offer?

Yes It is true sweetpotato can do well in Ndalu area of Bungoma County. We have done trials with orange flesh sweetpotato varieties of Vita and Kabode and we have been able to get good yields of over 7 tons /acre. We can provide vines for planting at a small fee through our trained farmers. Contact Moses Wamalwa of CIP on 0724-896-387. or email to M.M.W...@cgiar.org for assistance

Yes they can do well in Busia and infact mature faster because it is hotter. We have done trials in some parts of Busia(Funyula) and we know they are grown in Matayos also.As for Homabay I can not confirm that unless trials are done

Dear Perez,
The same varieties and many more do pretty well in Busia and Homa Bay. We have people in Busia farming on the orange fleshed sweetpotatoes. Can you get to Siwongo Food processors or REFSO( an NGO in Busia town)? They are extensively involved in this research
