I am considering making a complete DIY cage and I was wondering if you
have any suggestions on what materials i should be using to make it. I
saw a DIY plan on the internet using PVC pipe and Hardware Netting.

Is there any other materials that would be glider safe.

Ben uses this PVC-coated wire when he makes cages:

It was the cheapest we could find when he started making them. We buy
most of the rest of our materials (door latches, tray, etc) from
http://www.klubertanz.com/.

You can try the PVC cage with the hardware netting. I know some
people have been successful with it. You will need to be really
careful if your gliders are chewers though. I would make sure to
inspect the cage daily in case they're chewing their way out of the
hardware cloth... You don't want them to escape & get hurt.
