Some users are receiving an error that game assets are missing when they install IW4x to their MicroSD card. As we investigate the cause of this issue, we recommend installing directly to your Steam Deck's internal SSD. Installing IW4x to internal storage has resolved the issue for everyone who has reached out to us so far.
IW4x runs exceptionally well on the Steam Deck and both installation options can be completed without the need for a separate device. The instructions on the IW4x support page are pretty straightforward, but there are a few key differences when installing on the Steam Deck, which will be covered below:
Optional: Before opening the .torrent file, open Ktorrent and choose your default download directory under settings. This will save you time in the future if you intend to save IW4x outside of your Downloads folder. I defaulted my download location to /home/Documents/My Games/
wine-ge-proton8-4 brought a fix from upstream for the X Labs Launcher now it works normally without having to do this workaround to run the game I recommend bringing a new tutorial using bottles or lutris and just change runner to wine-ge-proton8-4, works with all games: s1x, iw6x and iw4x
Im guest, do you have a discord? I cant seem to figure this out even after editing the text files. The ranks and bot names dont update. I dont know what im doing wrong. If so please add pactsworn#6666
in the mods dictionary, open "z_svr_bots.iwd" with winrar. You will see the bots.txt file, Open it, instead of deleting all the letters (current Names), replace them with the names you want unless you want 26 names. for example i've only changed 20 and left then rest of the alphabet arfter it. This worked for me no crashes and the names are changed. Hope this helps
Hey, when i try to open the menu, it doesnt work. I have 5 bound to Secondary Inventory, but it still isnt working. The mod seems to work fine otherwise, i can spawn bots in using "spawnBot" in console, but they have no AI, they just stand in place. Any fixes for this?
Edit: Just noticed that more parts of the mod dont work. I changed the dvars to make the ranks/prestige random, but when i spawned the bots in using the command, their ranks were just 1. I am using iw4x 0.6.1 btw.
I copy the mods folder into the iw4x folder, so it looks like iw4x/mods/bots/the .iwd file, i tried loading the mod through the mods menu in game, and setting fs_game to mods/bots, it seemed to load correctly, since it showed, that the mod is bots, and the screen color changed a bit, also when starting the game, on the loading screen it also showed, that the mod is loaded.
Okay, I found the problem. Turns out i am stupid. I had a folder within my game files named iw4x, so i put the mods folder there, but i re-read it more carefully, i understood, that i have to put it in the same place where the iw4x.exe file is located, i put the folder there and now it works lmao sorry for the inconvenience
If you guys wanna make Bot Warfare sprint more, i will show you how
_Step 1: Go to Bot Warfare folder in mods/bots/ in IW4x main folder
_Step 2: Open "z_svr_bots.iwd" with Winrar, there are 3 folders :maps, scripts and waypoints
_Step 3: Click on map > mp > bots, then open _bot_script.gsc with NotePad
_Step 4: There are many code here, but take your attention to those line down here

"Strafe" mean bot to walk, "Sprint" to running around the map, and of course this stupid "Crouch" and "Jump" is Crouch and... Jump
The number is how many percent bot will do these action, if you don't want bots crouch like a bunch of wankers, just decrese the number after the "="
*Note that there are many case,you must edit all (9 case i believe include random case). If you can't find these lines, Ctrl + F then search for these line.
_Step 5: save this file and let Winrar update file for you. Done!
*If you have a trouble lauching this mods (Ex: Black Screen)
_ Create a shortcut of iw4x.exe
_ Right click on the shortcut, go to Properties
_ Add the following in the "Target" field : +set fs_game "mods/YourModName" (of course you'll have to replace YourModName by the name of the mod Bot Warfare, in this case this will be +set fs_game "mods/bots")
_ Launch the game through ths shortcut, the mod will be loaded automatically
