So, a week on; a week darker; a week wetter. Feeling inspired to run?
You should be! This is the best time of year for a road runner, cool
enough that that the body isn't straining to disperse heat yet mild
enough that things shouldn't fall off. Just look at the Amsterdam
marathon last weekend where Britain's current number one Dan Robinson
set a new personal best...

This week will be another road run. Unlike last week's steady run
broken up with spurts of pace, we'll be looking for a bit of gradual
progression, working in quarters. Ten minutes very easy, ten minutes
steady, ten minutes a bit quicker, ten minutes with what's left! It's
not a "survival of the fittest" run: only ten minutes of hard running,
but there's enough work to get some aerobic stimulus, and it helps one
to feel different paces and be disciplined about sticking to a speed.

A few of you have mentioned hitting the track so as to do some more
tightly controlled training and so this is in the works. Monday will
be track night though: St Marys Richmond AC now have exclusive use of
the track on Thursdays. If it proves appropriate we can look into
doing some repetition work on the roads on Thursdays in weeks to come
though.

(If you can only make Thursdays, but are desperate to run on the
track, maybe try talking to SMRAC. They are a new club, one of the
friendliest I've ever encountered and would without exception be
interested in talking to you with no immediate membership
obligations.)

As I've mentioned to a few of you, I'm still keen to hear how your
running's going and how we can help you so if you have any questions
or thoughts, whether very broad or super trivial, drop us a message!

See you soon!
Sam
