Monday Meeting

Hello everyone,

We are mailing invites out next Tuesday, but want to meet with
everyone on Monday to finalize a couple of things first. Let us know
what times you are available please. :)


I can do between 11 and 4. I can also do anytime after 5:15 but early
would be best.

We ALL need to get together before we talk to anyone. Everyone in this committee needs to be on the same page with what's going on before we move forward. That means EVERYONE in this committee, Dr. Chatterjee needs to be there as well.

So far I have not heard any concrete plans for the evening of May 3rd. 

Regarding NCLab, I do not even know whether you want it there. What 

else are you planning to do?

Therefore I think that it is premature to send invites. If you invite people and fail 

to prepare an interesting and engaging program, you can cause a lot of damage. 

I will definitely not participate unless the program is worth it. 

I am out of town until Friday April 6.

Pavel, we are going to discuss all of that. As for invitations,
Tuesday was our original goal but we won't send them out unless we are
ready. So you won't be able to make a meeting on Monday?

+ there are still names from the Dept of Education we need. I need someone to go with me?

Regarding my worries - they are real. I have been organizing international 

conferences since 2006.. It takes a year of work to do a good one. Clearly 

the SWE evening is not an international conference, but do not expect that 

the program will create itself on its own, or that a few hours will be sufficient.

This is going to take lots of work, even with a great idea in place. And I have 

not heard any ideas yet.

All of us need to discuss what exactly we want to accomplish at this meeting again. I dont think we are all on the same page anymore. Then we go to the dean and provost.

I will have an interactive presentation that can use a smart board or a projector. I'd really like to see if I can convince Leping Liu to use the smart boards in the big hall, that way I can stand in front of it and be a part of the presentation. I need to show the presentation to Leping, and can invite her to a practice presentation + reserve a conference room?

Caitlin, Jackie, I think you are working on the slide show, we need to get together to make sure we have flow. I am free Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon.

Just to clarify, I think a practice presentation will bring up some of the issues that are not covered and agreed upon by all, and then we can have a solid idea of what will happen in April. Are we ready to present what we have to the group?

Yes. Can we meet in a lab with a projector? I'm see if the Library Resource Center will be able to accommodate us on short notice.

We can have our mission statement, and our (partially completed) presentations up for review.

I can be ready by 1pm. Since it's so late already, I'm not sure if (but pretty sure) we can get a room with a projector. Decide by text in the morning? I'm not saying we all have to be done, I am still halfway done. But I am super curious to see what our presentation is starting to look like.
