-Dr. Maragakis
-the one guy he said that is involved in the K-12 outreach (Casey what

-President Johnson, this would be a very powerful tool seeing as he
will have the say for the University to back us
-Dr. Chatterjee
-Should we invite the heads of each department?
-Dr. Voltsted- She does a high school outreach with legos. I'll talk
to her Friday to invite her to our meeting prior to the big one as
well. She'll have great input!

I'll contact her and recieve more info as to who else needs to attend)

-We will need to have representation from elementary, middle, and high
school math and science departments. I have two elementary school
teachers that will attend. Jackie you work on Nolan and Henjum. Jen,

I'm REALLY new to all this, but I can talk to a few of the teachers at the middle school & high school in Douglas County [Carson Valley Middle School & Douglas High School] over the next week if you'd like; I can try to get in contact with the elementary schools too, but I'm not really rooted to any of them.

Andrew, we should target computer teachers, as well as science
and technology teachers. Would you have time to go to some schools
in person? I would like very much to meet the people and see what
they are doing.

Pavel,
I will shoot an email to the Principal at Mendive Middle School about meeting up with him on Friday. I also know that Mendive has a recently renovated technology classroom that they got a grant for, so we could probably meet up with the technology teacher as well.

Naturally, I know for certain that my physics teacher from high school would love to be apart of this. Other than that, I'll speak with all the comp lit or science related teachers I know if you'd like then.

For right now I think we just want to invite the heads of the math and
science departments at the high schools and not really all of the
other teachers. Although I think we talked about mentioning in the
invite that they could bring people with them if they'd like.

Definitely. A meaningful exception would be teachers who already
use computers in their teaching. This was for example the lady at
Coral Elementary. She even taught programming to kids before.
It was amazing to talk to her.

Hi!

I have made preliminary contact with the Reno Children's Museum, requesting the contact info for the organizer who would attend the demonstration.
I have told the museum that I would be willing to offer an introductory workshop for K-12 students on a regular basis based on Robot Karel.
Anyone remember the tablets I mentioned in the meeting? If we can get a touch-tablet donated to the Children's Museum, featuring Robot Karel, that would be so cool. Of course, there are other options, the museum has advanced facilities.

I would like to suggest a second demonstration, that can be bigger, including members from each of the schools on this list.
I will continue to work on the NPO to see if we can get funding for catering and maybe even a fee paid to attendees for their attendance to cover loss of possible work time and travel? Town council is also an option for funding.

Here's the list, it has also been mentioned in another thread:

I feel we all need to get together and work on a formal invitation to send out/hand out. That way it will be a group effort and we can all contribute opinions as we make it. Thoughts?

I agree. We do need to have a meeting where the committee starts to brainstorm on 'ink and paper.'
