Glu morning,

Our meeting will be Sunday, October 6th, 2:30 PM @ 848 Divisadero Street. Programming seemed to be well-received last week, so we’re doing more! You can never get enough practice manipulating tensors, so we’ll be doing (and code-golfing) Sasha Rush’s Tensor Puzzles. If you’re already a numpy wizard, do it again in einops or try to beat my golf (686 for all 21 puzzles).

If you want to read something, the einops paper is surprisingly skim-worthy. If you don’t, enjoy the break! Next week we will be doing mechanistic interpretability and there will be plenty of reading.

Why knowing how to do things with tensors is cool:

  1. Einops users attain nirvana

  2. Might learn this silly broadcasting backwards compatibility fact?

  3. Becoming more like Noam Shazeer

(no picture this week because tensors are to be felt, not seen)

Best,
Cheikh and Sasha
