Our efforts have sent a signal to Sacramento that Californians support Commissioner Benninghoven, and we expect him to be reappointed to the Fish and Game Commission later this month. Now we need to send a signal to the California Fish and Game Commission that San Diegans support strong, science-based protections for South La Jolla. As many of you are aware, the Fish and Game Commission is expected to accept comments on alterations to their final proposed network of marine protected areas at their August meeting in Santa Barbara. Your continued support for a strong science-based marine protected area in south La Jolla is more important now than it has ever been. Please take a moment and sign our petition telling the California Fish and Game Commissioners to support the development of a strong network of marine protected areas along the entire California coast, including the adoption of a minimum-sized nine-square-mile marine protected area in south La Jolla.
