LUCKNOW: BJP vice-president Kalyan Singh on Thursday scotched rumours
about Sangh Parivar floating another political front as an alternative
to the BJP.
Quoting a senior Parivar leader without taking his name, Kalyan claimed
that the RSS has already made it clear that it would not float any
front or political party in addition to the BJP.
When his attention was sought on threat by VHP working president Ashok
Singhal to float a new party, Kalyan set to rest speculation claiming
that he had a long talk with Singhal and the latter would no longer
press the demand now. He, however, refused to disclose details of his
talks with Singhal.
Kalyan also refuted the VHP charge that the present BJP leadership has
put the Hindutva on the backburner. "Hindutva is religion for the BJP.
There is no question of deviating from it. The party had not done so in
the past and would never do it in the future," he claimed.
Meanwhile, the BJP has given two more days to five rebel MLAs after the
deadline for filing reply to the charges ended on Thursday. Anil
Paswan, Daya Shanker Varma, Kovid Kumar Singh, Mayankeshwar Sharan
Singh and Narendra Singh were suspended from the party recently. They
were issued separate chargsheets and were directed to reply within 15
days.
"We have not received any reply from them till today. Since the party
has convened disciplinary committee meeting on August 22, they have two
more days to file their replies. The committee would decide their
fate," claims party state vice-president HN Dixit.
The BJP has also convened a meeting of state election committee on
August 22 to short-list names of candidates for by-polls to the vacant
UP Assembly seats. The names would be short-listed and sent to the
central committee for selection of candidates.
