Dear users,

Hi, I'm a beginner of SWAT. My SWAT version is 2012.

My problem is that "Despite 5 weather stations I input , SWAT uses only one station"
My watershed has 5 weather stations. ( Not all stations have all measurement items ,for example. 5 stations have observed precipitation data, 4 stations have temperature data, and only 1 station has solar radiation data.) About each item , I already have (.txt) data. These format are completely same as the one which I upload from "Global Weather Data for SWAT".
However, according to TxtInOut or project Database file, weather station became ONLY ONE for all weather items.
My senior who use SWAT version 2009 and same weather data ,same study site doesn't have such a problem.
Does anyone have same problem?

I attached TxtInOut(precipitation) of me(2012) and senior(2009).
I hope that someone will give me advice.
Thank you for your reading.

Hi Friend,

Do you use ArcSWAT to generate the file or generate this file yourself? If using ArcSWAT, tt would be helpful to upload the original txt files for ArcSWAT.

Hi , Mr. Yu

Thank you very much for your reply.
Here, I uploaded the original txt file of weather station (precipitation)"pcplocation.txt".
And also, I uploaded other 5 txt files .This is each observed precipitation value . These 6 files are in same one file.

Thank you for your kindness and cooperation.
Sincerely,

Hi Kayoko,

I found that with SWAT 2012 I couldn't use X and Y values in a projected coordinate system to describe the precipitation and temperature station locations (e.g., in pcplocation.txt); instead I needed to use latitude and longitude. I don't know for certain, but that could cause your problem.

Best,
James

Hi James,

Thank you very much for your advice.
Yes, Actually I've already found that solution  and  modified. As you know from my attachment, the title of value must be "LONG, LAT" not "X,Y" but swat didn't matter whether the value is in meter or in degree.
I still don't find the reason why my swat uses only one weather station.

Thank you James , and also all users. This google group is very helpful for me :)

Sincerely,

Kayoko

Hi Kayoko,

Sorry for replying so late. As you know, for precipitation gauge station location file, ArcSWAT 2009 uses dbf format and ArcSWAT2012 use txt format. And the underline codes have been changed dramatically from ArcSWAT2009 and ArcSWAT2012. So, it's not surprise that ArcSWAT2009 works but ArcSWAT2012 doesn't.

For your problem, it's in the value of LAT and LONG. In your location file, they are not the real latitude and longitude. ArcSWAT don't check their value. Even the value is apparently not between -180 and 180, it still reads them. Then ArcSWAT will  try to calculate the distance between each subbasin and each station in you file using the wrong latitude and longitude. Again, ArcSWAT don't check if they are valid. Based on this, each subbasin will be assigned to one station and will try to read its corresponding climate data. If one station is not selected, it will be omit. Apparently, for your case, only all subbasin is assigned to one same station and just read the climate data of that station. If you check the table SubPcp in the project mdb, you will just fund one record.

Solution? Try to use the real latitude and longitude in the location file and import it again. Check table SubPcp make sure the result is correct.

Hope it works.

Best Regards
Zhiqiang

Dear users,

I got totally the same problem with Ogura. SWAT uses only one station (first station) of my database.

Could you please help me check these file?

Thank you so much.
