Dear SWAT users,

The reason I am posting this is to share with you a new SWAT tool called "SWAT Weather Database".
Basically, this tool is a Microsoft Access database with a GUI interface (and some VBA coding behind) to help the user in inputting and storing the weather data, while also allowing the user to manage the database itself.

The good thing is that the SWAT Weather Database is capable of:
- Creating the input weather .txt files to be used during the ArcSWAT/QSWAT project setup, for all weather stations at once, and;
- Calculating the WGEN Statistics, for all weather stations at once.

I developed this tool because I had to deal with something around 25 weather stations considering a time span of 25 years, and it was extremely time consuming to create the input .txt (or .dat) files and the WGEN statistics. So, I just tried to make my life a little easier and then though it could be also interesting to share with other SWAT users.

The SWAT Weather Database tool, along with the documentation, can be found on the SWAT website, on this link:
swat.tamu.edu/media/115170/swat-weatherdatabase.7z

Hope this can help other users on configuring their projects.
Cheers,
Arthur

Hello everyone,

Just sharing the information that I updated the SWAT Weather Database and that it is already available to download at the SWAT website.
Following some users comments, this version fixes some bugs such as an error when opening the stations database and another which prevented the calculation of the WGEN statistics for some users.
Hope it helps,
Best regards,
Arthur

Dear Arthur,
Is it possible to modify RAIN_YRS parameter for calculating WGEN statistics?
Thanks in advance.

Regards.
Martín.

Dear Martin,

Thank you for your question.
Currently, the SWAT Weather Database tool is designed to receive only daily information, what restricts the calculation of two variables: RAIN_YRS and RAINHHMX.
If such limitation restricts your work in any way, you could still use the SWAT Weather Database tool to calculate the WGEN statistics for all the other variables and update yourself the restricting variables before uploading the data to your SWAT database.

Best regards,
Arthur

Kingsley:

Try importing the pcp file from a .txt file instead a .csv file.

Dear Mr. Arhtur,
Thank you for your support. I wonder about the link since it is not working with me. Also I wonder about the database, Am I able to generate the daily rainfall data from the monthly rainfall data?
Appreciate

Best Regards
