simulated discharge at the outlet remains extremely low

Hi,

I am using ArcSWAT to model the hydrology of the Upper Godavari basin. I have conducted multiple simulations using different weather datasets, including IMD data and SWAT India datasets. However, in all cases, the simulated discharge at the outlet remains extremely low, ranging only between 0 and 3 m³/s.

In contrast, the observed discharge data shows values reaching up to 300 m³/s. Despite performing calibration using SWAT-CUP and adjusting key parameters such as CN2, groundwater parameters, and other hydrological variables, the simulated results do not match the observed discharge.

I am kindly requesting to help me identify where the model setup or input data might be going wrong.

Thank you
Sowkhya

I'm really feeling the same problem; but I'm using QSWAT.

My discharge simulated is very low compared to the observed data I've; I've done multiple simulations and it seems there must be something wrong with it.
I've even increased the CN2, did multiple manual calibrations.

The blue colour in the chart indicates my discharge observed and the grey one is the Simulated and the second graph indicates one reaches flow Simulated.

Kindest regards
Abdurrahman A.

I might be experiencing a similar issue. The evapotranspiration is quite high (384 mm) and runoff is relatively low (6 mm), given the annual precipitation of approximately 394 mm. Furthermore, when I try to visualise a plot in QSWAT+ , the simulated channel streamflow is significantly lower than the observed values.

All,

Increase baseflow. Try manipulating .gw parameters and .sol, especially Ksat and AWC. If the trend follows the observed streamflow (ie. follows peaks but has much lower streamflow on days with no rainfall) this means that baseflow is not being properly modeled.
