it is in the fig.fig as far as I can remember, see the SWAT I/O manual

Dear SWAT Users

I'm running a simulation in sub-daily time step. SWAT generates flow discharges in hourly time step at the file HOURQ.OUT, which has a field HYD, that represents the hydrograph storage location for subbasin. My question is how to locate the HYD numbers? For example, my watershed has 95 subwatershed and 284 hydrograph storage locations in the HOURQ.OUT file. I assume that each subbasin has 3 hydrograph storage location numbers (upstream, middle and outlet) (95 x 3 = 285). Is this assumption correct? The problem is how to relate each HYD number to its correspondent subbasin.

Thank you

Dear all,

I am running a sub daily simulation. The previous post indicated that  ''SWAT generates flow discharges in hourly time step at the file HOURQ.OUT, which has a field HYD, that represents the hydrograph storage location for subbasin. ''

My question is that: I have found 37 hyd locations in my hourq.out file, while my fig.fig file showed there are only 10 sub basins and 10 hydro graph storage locations in the catchment. I have checked the I/O documentation verison 2012 in page 37, everything seems right in the fig file.  I am wondering why the number of hydrograph storage locations in the fig file is different from the number in hourq file. Does each hydro graph storage location have coordinates and does it represent the area of part of a HRU?  Thank you very much!

Best Regards

Dear all,

I have solved the problem of how to correspond the sub basin to each hydrograph storage location (HYD), please check page 626 in SWAT i/o 2012, there is an example.

For my current project setup, the match is like the following table. The two columns are the column 3 and column 4 respectively of the route command in the .fig file.

Sub basin      HYD(hydrograph storage location)
1                    1
2                    2
8                  16
7                  18
3                    3
4                  24
5                  28
6                    6
9                  34
10                36

Despite of the above, I have another question on it.  Through checking the value from hourq.out file, it showed the result has the unit of cubic meters during each hour. Since I would like to derive the river flow at reach of each hour. I then have to convert current result in hourq file to cubic meter per second. My questions are

1. Does each hydrograph storage location represent the entire sub basin or only part of it? Someone post it previous that each sub basin could have multiple hyd locations. Is that right?  If so, how do I find the size of each hyd location represent for?

2. Can each hydrograph storage location represent the water yield for the reach in that sub basin? Does the hydrograph storage location have a coordinates?

Look forward to your reply.

Hi Jie!

Do you find the answers to your questions? If yes can you share it?
Also, Did you find how to get the output values of the surface flow or the WYLD hourly? How did you set your input data for Sub-daily simulation?

Thanks in advance!
