Tejith:  The interface chooses the closest gage to the centroid of the subbasin.  You might check the coordinates of the lat/long.

Subject: [SWAT-user:11282] PCP data input HELP!

Dear All,

I have a PCP.txt file as attached below to give for SWAT input.

All the stations in the file lie inside my study area but the SWAT model is picking up only one of the pcp stations from the list which can be seen in the pcp1.pcp file as attached below.

What can I do to make SWAT consider all the stations from the list? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Nancy,

Thanks for the prompt reply, but all those 17 pcp stations lie inside or very close to my watershed area, yet SWAT is only choosing one. The previous literature I referred to mentioned the use of several different station data like I am trying to.

If I use the same model with input data from SWAT weather downloader (which shows 4 stations in the vicinity of my watershed area), SWAT is considering all 4 of them as you can find attached below. Is there something wrong with the input data format on my end?

pcp1.pcp (For SWAT downloaded data).txt

Hello Nancy,

I appreciate the quick response.

From the previous literature I have read, they also used multiple pcp stations from the same data source, like I am trying to do.

Furthermore, when I use SWAT weather downloader https://globalweather.tamu.edu/ (it showed 4 stations in the vicinity of my watershed), all the 4 stations were considered as attached below.

The longitudes in the successful pcp1.pcp are all negative, and those in
your pcp.txt are all positive and, I guess, far from your watershed.

Thanks Chris. I noticed I sent an old version of pcp file. I have corrected this in the newer version and it is taking all the stations now.

Thanks.

Hi, please help me with sth similar
I'm trying to set a unreal basin with several gauges by modifying the example data, because I have a similar problem in the actual watershed I'm simulating.

I have the same problem, SWAT editor is just taking the last gauge in the list.

I attach the pcpRobStation.txt file where their are the location of the stations, and also the pcp1.pcp file that is being generated.

I really appreciate your help. Kind regards
pcp1.pcp

Nicolas:

A couple of comments that may help:

--The interface chooses the closest gage to the centroid of the subbasin.  You might check the coordinates of the lat/long.

--I notice in the ‘pcp1.pcp file’, the entry for generating missing data is incorrect.  It is entered as ‘-099.0’ and should be ‘-99.0’ (without the preceding zero).  This won’t cause a major problem with one just gage, but if there are multiple gages, the model will not read this correctly.   It indicates that you might not be using one of the latest versions of the ArcSWAT interface, that this problem is corrected.

Hi Tejith,

How did you make SWAT to consider all the stations?

Best,

SWAT model always select the nearest station for each sub basin. after correction of Long and Lat, if you have more sub basins and each sub basin has stations with corrected Long and Lat , many stations will be picked up by SWAT. I hope this works for you
