Hello, I would like some help inserting new soil classes into the official SWAT database. I've already tried inserting them via "Edit Swat input" and haven't been successful; I can't save the new classes I insert, and I'm also having problems inserting some soil parameters. I know there's another way to insert these new soil classes from the database using Microsoft Access. Has anyone here done it this way?

Hi Layse,
Yes I have edited the soil classes with the microsoft access database. The method is quite straightforward, you go to SWAT--> SWATEditor-->SWAT_US_Soils (or if you are trying to use the ssurgo database you should navigate to whereever you downloaded that). You then open that file on Microsoft access database and go to the relevant table (in the example below CaMUID). You can double click any of the cells and start populating them with relevant information, then click save. If you don't have certain information, I try to copy and paste from the soil type in the existing database with the most similar properties or look up the soil on
USDA-NRCS Soil Series Classification View By Name . Hope this helps!
