Hi all,
We are trying to use the Land Use Update through ArcSWAT 2009.93.7b (and ArcGIS
9.3.1 with SP2).
We have implemented relatively complex crop rotation schedules by splitting the
agricultural land use type into 14 splits during HRU Definition (these splits represent
different fractions of the total agricultural land). Each split has a
specific/individual 5 year crop rotation in the management files. SWAT runs as
expected for the default/base scenario, and generally produces realistic yields
for the 14 different crop rotations.
When trying to run scenarios, where the agricultural land use is changed for all these 14
splits into forest - using the Land Use Update through the ArcSWAT interface -
the effect on, for example, NO3 loss is negligible. Also, when looking at the
updated HRU fractions (in the "LupIn x.dat" files), these seem not to
have been changed for the land use types that represent the different splits
(although when writing the lup files, we could select these land uses/splits and
got the message that the land use update had successfully been implemented).
Our suspicion
is therefore that the Land Use Update in ArcSWAT will only work on land use
types that have not been split into multiple land uses during HRU
Definition.
Anyone got a
similar experience?
Could
anyone confirm that the Land Use Update will not work for land use splits?
Many thanks
Dennis
