Dead Root Calculation in Harvest Operation

Hi there,

I am interested in simulating perennial grasses aboveground and belowground residue. However, looking at the source code, I believe the harvest option does not simulate dead root/residue. For example, "rtresnew" is defined as 0 and does not update later. 

I can not use the harvest and kill option, as the kill operation converts all roots to dead roots/residues at kill. 

I appreciate any help in clarifying this and suggestions.
