Hello everyone,

I am working on calibrating sediment in my study area and I don't know where to start calibrating from. Most of the papers I have seen on sediment calibration were done with SWAT, and the parameters (spcon, spexp, ch_cov) that are commonly used for sediment calibration are not available in SWAT+. Can anybody give me any recommendations on where to start from?

Hi Ann,

I am having similar issues. A couple of sensitive parameters that are more or less working so far for me are "usle_k", "prf" and "lat_sed". However, it would be useful to know what happened with spcon and spexp in newer SWAT+ releases.

This version of SWAT+ doesn't use spcon and spexp, and when I tried calibrating lat_sed for my watershed, it affected my dissolved oxygen concentration.

Good afternoon everybody,

My model is severely underestimating sediment yield, when I calibrate lat_sed, (this seems to be the most sensitive parameter for sediment) it helps to increase it but it also affects DO negatively (it reduces DO massively), what can be calibrated to fix this issue? Also, even though DO is doing well in my calibration site, for smaller tributaries, I have values as high as 10,000 mg/l per day when I convert from kg/day, which is unrealistic, please any help will be appreciated.

Hi!
I'm facing the same issue with lat_sed and DO. When I apply my calibrated sediment parameters, the DO drops to zero
Do you have any suggestions?
