Dear SWAT+ Development Team and Forum Members,

I am encountering a runtime error when running SWAT+ GW FLOW (rev61.0.1, 64-bit debug version) and would like to ask for your assistance.

forrtl: error (72): floating overflow Image PC Routine Line Source rev61.0.1_64debug 00007FF62CBD2755 SD_CHANNEL_CONTRO 262 sd_channel_control.f90 rev61.0.1_64debug 00007FF62C8EFFC6 COMMAND 355 command.f90 rev61.0.1_64debug 00007FF62CBA772A TIME_CONTROL 255 time_control.f90 rev61.0.1_64debug 00007FF62DF1AF1A MAIN__ 134 main.f90 rev61.0.1_64debug 00007FF62E6BB0EB Unknown Unknown Unknown rev61.0.1_64debug 00007FF62E6BB819 Unknown Unknown Unknown rev61.0.1_64debug 00007FF62E6BB732 Unknown Unknown Unknown rev61.0.1_64debug 00007FF62E6BB5EE Unknown Unknown Unknown rev61.0.1_64debug 00007FF62E6BB88E Unknown Unknown Unknown KERNEL32.DLL 00007FF91105E8D7 Unknown Unknown Unknown ntdll.dll 00007FF912BAC53C Unknown Unknown Unknown

This error occurs during the simulation after initialization, when the model starts routing processes related to channels. Based on my understanding, the floating overflow may be caused by one or more of the following issues:

  • Extremely large or zero values in channel-related parameters (e.g., channel width, depth, slope, roughness, or hydraulic variables),

  • Invalid or inconsistent channel geometry,

  • Numerical instability caused by very small denominators or excessively large intermediate values in the channel flow calculations.

To facilitate debugging and allow you to reproduce the issue, I have attached a compressed ZIP file OF MY txtlnout

If there are specific variables, parameters, or input tables that are commonly associated with floating overflow errors in SD_CHANNEL_CONTROL, I would greatly appreciate your guidance on where to check first.

Thank you very much for your time and support.
Any suggestions or diagnostic advice would be highly appreciated.

Best regards,

Thank you for the email and including the txtinout.  I will download your file land try and debug it.  I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Nancy
