Dear All,

I'm using the SWAT-LUT+ application in developing land use update files for my SWAT+ model. My initial run encountered a problem in which the key error was the WATR land cover. I later discovered that water bodies should not be used as a land cover in an HRU; also, the code WATR in the SWAT2012 database seems not included in the SWAT+ database. Then I found the WETW, which is the code for wetland-wet land cover, and my question is: Is it okay to use WETW as a representation of the water bodies, such as the river network, in my land cover map?

Thank you!

Sincerely,

WATR is converted to WETW when it is used as the landuse for HRUs, as
you have seen. But earlier in the processing, if you mark a pond or
reservoir in the inlets/outlets file it is the WATR area in its
landscape unit that is assigned to the pond or reservoir. Similarly, if
you use the threshold method to create reservoirs in the Create HRUs
form, it is the WATR area that is used to check against the threshold,
and assigned to the reservoir if one is formed. So you should use WATR
if you are creating ponds or reservoirs using these methods.
