Hello everyone,
I am looking at denitrification in HRUS for my model. In the SWAT+ documentation in Github, the units for no3_out in the channel_sd_day is kg, but in the SWAT 2012 documentation the no3_out is defined as kg N. Which one is it? I thought it was kg N since everyhting that I've seen in SWAT+ defines nitrogen species in terms of N, but I wanted to check first.
Thank you,
Matt Lombardo

Hello Matt Lombardo,
SWAT+ as well as swat2012 works with the "pure" and "dry" forms. Therefore, it will be kg N. Other examples: all biomass is treated as "dry" weight, including yields. The fertilizer is also treated as pure and dry form of N or P (depending on the fertilizer), etc.
Hope this helps!
