The meteorological dataset covers the period from 2000 to the end of 2024 and contains daily precipitation and daily maximum and minimum temperatures. Some daily records contain missing values coded as -99.

Using the Hargreaves method, the model runs successfully when the simulation period is set to either:

January 2000 to March 2023, or
May 2023 to the end of 2024.

However, the model fails whenever April 2023 is included in the simulation period.

I checked the meteorological data for April 2023 and found no more than three consecutive missing values (-99). Missing values also occur during the earlier period from 2000 to 2022, but they do not cause the model to fail.

What could be causing this error? What should I check or modify so that April 2023 can be included in the simulation?

This appears to be a problem when the model is generating the values.  I would need to take a look at your weather generator data.  Please send me the contents of your current txtinout folder.

Thank you for your help! This is the link to my TxtInOut folder on the Google Drive:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VCg_zCeU0cFBTW5ZjW2SHmaUlL1ocBAg/view?usp=drive_link

This version successfully ran for the period from 2020 to 2022. The input weather data cover the period from 2000 to December 31, 2024, but the model returns an error whenever the simulation includes the year 2023.

Thank you again for your help!

Yuxiang:

I will try and explain the problem.

On day 94 (year 2003-daily humidity file), the model has read a code to generate (-99.00)  the value.   The model then uses the monthly data in the ‘weather-wgn.cli’ file.  The DEW_AVE is out of range for the month of April and causing the problem in the model.  I was able to get a successful simulation after changing these values to a reasonable number.  I have included a table that highlights this along with some other inputs that appear out of range that should be reviewed.

Let me know if you do not get a successful simulation after making these changes and I will send you an updated version of the model.  You are currently using a model from 8/2024.

Nancy
