Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to the "SWAT+ Editor" community seeking assistance and guidance on a project I'm working on. I am in the process of converting input files into a format compatible with the SWAT+ model. The goal is to convert TIF files into data files compatible with the file.cio format, which is essential for feeding data into SWAT+.

I have access to the source code of the "QSWAT3" and "SWATPlus Editor" repositories. However, the task is quite challenging, as the codebase is extensive, and I'm still in the process of understanding the functionality of various methods, functions, and object-oriented programming classes within the project.

My aim is to create a command-line program that doesn't rely on graphical user interfaces, enabling me to perform these conversions directly without the need for GIS software.

I'm reaching out to this community for any insights, guidance, or assistance from members who have experience with SWAT+ or who are proficient in software development and GIS. Your expertise and support would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone is interested in discussing this further or providing guidance, please feel free to contact me via email at jhvilla...@gmail.com. Your assistance will help me advance this project and contribute to the SWAT+ community.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your support.

Best regards,

Hello,  there's no requirement to convert TIF files since they are already fully compatible.

Apologies if there was any confusion. I'm attempting to implement an operational model of SWAT+ version 60.5. As per the swat-io-documentation-2012.pdf, it is mentioned that data input for the SWAT solver should be prepared using a GIS tool.

My understanding is that, depending on the SWAT version in use, data input needs to be provided in different formats. For SWAT2012, ASCII files with a .TXT extension are used, but for SWAT+, data input needs to be compatible with the file.cio format. In my case, I have data files in formats such as .hyd, .lum, .sol, and .cli. I aim to automate the data input preparation process for SWAT+ (including the conversion of TIF files to .cio, .hyd, .sol, .cli, and .lum) from a desktop PC, enabling efficient SWAT+ execution.

I want to emphasize that my goal is to create a console-level program that can be executed from the Windows or Linux terminal to transform native TIF data into the format required by SWAT+. When I inspect the source code of QSWAT3 Plus, for example, I notice conditionals that request loading data from ADF or TIF files. I even wonder if there are pre-compiled executables that already perform this 'characterization' task.
