Hi everybody,

Did anyone here successfully link SWAT-MODFLOW after building the MODFLOW model in the GMS interface?  (GMS 10.5 supports the MODFLOW-NWT version)

My MODFLOW model was built in the GMS, and I can terminate it successfully when I run it in the GMS 10.5 with the MODFLOW-NWT as shown in the picture below:

But, when I run the same model with the "MODFLOW-NWT.exe", it fails (It shows nothing, or it fails to meet solver convergence).

I checked, and these are the versions each of them uses:
GMS 10.5 ----> the NWT Version 1.1.3, 08\01\2017 and SWR1 Version 1.04.0 09\15\2016
MODFLOW-NWT.exe ----> the NWT Version 1.0.9, 07\01\2014 and SWR1 Version 1.03.0 08\30\2013

I read somewhere that the different packages of MODFLOW-NWT were modified in different versions. So, is it possible that my problem is because of the different versions?

And if so, how do you suggest that I adapt my model to work with the MODFLOW-NWT.exe Version 2014 in order to be able to use the SWAT-MODFLOW linkage procedure.

Sorry for the lengthy message, and thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Rezvane

Hi Rezvane,

I think this error would occur due to the different model input formats between the versions.
Could you please share the *.list or *.out file?

Thanks,
Seonggyu

Hi Rezvane,

I need the *.out file from the SWAT-MODFLOW simulation not from the MODFLOW.

Thanks,
Seonggyu

Hi Seonggyu

Sorry, here is the *.out file for the SWAT-MODFLOW simulation.

Thank you,
Rezvane

Hi Rezvane,

The modflow.out file shows it ran until the time step 13 and stopped because of the failure to meet solver convergence criteria.

But you mentioned in your previous question your model didn't run. Could you please clarify which model you are talking about?

Thanks,
Seonggyu

Dear  Seonggyu,

I've modified time steps in the Modflow model, and it does not give me this error anymore.
Thank you so much for being so helpful. I appreciate it.

Best regards,
Rezvane
