Dear Karim,

I'm facing a problem regarding climate change scenario analysis. My model is calibrated and validated. For scenario analysis, after simulating the arcSWAT with new pcp and tmp, I have replaced the new pcp1 and tmp1 txt file in the SWAT cup directory(Back UP file), after that, I run the swat exe. Now what is the next step to get the fututre predicted flow for new scenario.

where can I find that one? Shall I again iterate SWAT-CUP like calibration and validation with the calibrated parameters? what things I have to change in File Cio ? Would you like to give step wise solution to fix it?

Thank you.

Just put climate files in the main swat-cup project directory, why backup? Then iterate once with calibrated parameter ranged and as many simulations as before. Use no_observation extract programs to extract variables of interest. Your file.cio should reflect the future date you are simulating for...

Dear Karim,
Thank you for your kind guideline. However I need more clarification and here it is:
Suppose my control period is 20 years starting from 1980 to 2000 and I want to predict flow for 2040 to 2065(25 yrs) is that possible or I can produce only 20 yrs starting from 2040 to 2060.

From File Cio the necessary correction should beas follows:

NBYR: 20/25 yrs?
Beginning year: 2040
Beginnig julian date:1
Ending julian date: I have to check the ending year either it 365/366
Numbers of years skip: 0

Am I right..?

What about the other files from SWAT-CUP interface, I mean observation file, objective function file, Extraction file, Shall I correct any information in that file or keep it as usual during calibration/validation?

Am I supposed to give whole range of control period river flow data starting from 1980 to 2000 to generate future river flow in observation in observed rch txt in observation and observed.txt in objective function file?

In SUFI-2 extract_rch def. shall I correct the beginnig and ending year simulation? or keep it as usual?

Finally,
What information have to give"No observation file"as you suggest me to use this file
in that file can I mention the 2060/2065(20 yrs/25 yrs) as end year of simulation

variable column no: what is column no. of discharge (either7/8/11)

and Last question: where, in which file I can have the expected flow for future period?

how many simulation is enough in one iteration to predict the flow?
Would you like to clarify all things? because if I mistake any simple step, the simulation error will occur.

Thanks.

Oh common this is very clear! Just simulate from 40 to 60 and use no_observation extract programs to extracts flow for this period. You have no observation so don't bother with observation files, thats all....

Dear Karim,
I'm very grateful to you for your kind instruction. Where, in which file I can have the expected flow for future period?
It would be better if you would like to mention it.

Thanks

The no observed program extracts flow for each subbasin  and puts it in a file by subbasin number.. Just do it and you'll see....

Dear Karim,

Following your guideline, I have replaced the new pcp and tmp file for future scenario in the main SWAT-CUP directory and run the swat.exe once.  After that, in the SWAT-CUP interface, I have changed the prediction period and keep the no. of skip year=0. I didn't change anything in other file except No observation file. Then I keep the same calibrated parameter in the par info. and set my simulation no=300 but at the initial stage of simulation model shows the message that I attached here and stop to simulate.

Would you like to give a solution, I'm frustrating a lot.

Thank you,
Meher

Well obviously the pcp file you made is not in correct format or the period is wrong....

Dear Karim,
Before replacing pcp and tmp file in SWAT-CUP directory I was running ArcSWAT  with new pcp and tmp file for one scenario therefore, I keep the previous simulation duration(control period) from 1980 to 2000 and my projection period is 2040 to 2060. shall I mention the future period as a SWAT simulation period. Shall I keep three years as warm up period, shall I put 0 as a warm up period?

Plz. help me.
I'm waiting for your response.

Thanks
Meher

dear Karim
can you please let me know from where to get no observed file or programm, its giving results just at outlet, from where i can get future flows for other subbasins,
kindly let me know.

what do you mean  "where to get no observed file or programm"? These are among the swatcup files.

Actually I mean after successful iteration
From which file I can get future flows of all subbasin in the watershed
I am having 64 subbasin in the study area
I need to get future flows at each subbasin’s outlet

It is in Output.rch or something else ?

Like anything else, you can look in the manual . You have to fill the definition file and check the extraction file and check the 95PPU file before starting an iteration.

dear sir, I have done the settings as follows, i am still confused from where to get output file (that contains future flows for all subbasins)..

dear sir Kareem
the flows seems to be very low as shown in screen shot, what could be the reason for this?
