Dear all,

I have just started using SWAT-CUP and I have a problem that keeps me stuck in the first steps.

The problem is that although I manage to execute 3 executables of the SWAT-CUP without any error message that stops the process, while the run.bat, after every simulation it appears the error I show attached. I dont know if this can be linked to the fact that the 95PPU doesnt show up in the visualization window (I also put a screen capture of this), even if the parameter ranges are quite wide.

I would greatly appreciate any help,

Clearly the SWAT is not running. You must be giving some strange parameter combination to SWAT. Adjust the parameter ranges in par_inf file.

Thanks you very much for your help Karim,

You were right, I had some values out of the ranges considered in absolute_SWAT_values.txt. I have corrected them, I show you attached the values I´m using. In any case, and I dont know if this can be related, in the basin parameters (e.g. if you have a look to the first figure I attached) appear that the model does not find any parameter? This can be the reason?

Thanks again,

Parameter ranges seem to be fine, except epco and esco. Set them to > 0.6 unless you are in a desert.

Don’t understand what you mean here: appear that the model does not find any parameter?

Because in every simulation, the log says (this is the example for surlag but in every basin parameters happens the same):

Parameter:         SURLAG
File:                   bsn
Value:                (9.70000)
Method:              replace
Files Count:        0
Modified values:  0 in 0 files

So, I dont know if this can be causing the error... can you tell me please if you think in other issue or where could i start looking at to see where the error might come from?

Thanks very much,

For some reason it could not replace the parameter in that file…

Hi all,

Finally I managed to know that the problem was due to the SOL_Z parameter, which was set to be replaced from 1 to 3500. After changing it to relative change I saw that the SWAT-CUP run ok and the 95PPU is displayed.
In any case, I saw that once I get the error, even if after I change the SOL_Z calibration method and even if I dont take it into account in the Par_inf.txt file, the error remains. With this I understand that there is a problem in file writing, no? or is it normal?

Please, I will really appreciate if anyone could help me to try to understand why the SWAT-CUP is not considering the basin parameters.

Thanks!!

dear dr karim,
I am working on my thesis and I have to predict recharge rate for future based on future precipitation and temp. I run my swat model without any error but my swat cup model has problem. I chose 10 parameters for model and I entered flow out of 8 station in my field of study. I will be thankful if you help me

you have 10 parameters 3 simulations and all three have the same objective function values (in goal.txt). You must have many errors in the input files. Instead of sending output files, you should send the input files. I also saw that you run swat for daily output but entered monthly values in observed.txt. This is obviously very wrong.

dear dr karim,
Thank you for your reply. Today I changed some datas in my model and it runned without error but there is a problem that the model has result just for flow-out-1 and there is no result for other flow-outs. the data were entered monthly but it runned without error. I attached my model in and out data.
moreover, After running swatcup model with monthly data I runned it with daily but it did not runned and stopped running. I attached input data and error photo. i will be thankful if you answer my questions, as I am working extensively on this model to solve my mistakes. I am really looking forward.

dear dr karim,
I have another question. Beside the gigantic problem of running and asking or helping me. I want to know for  calculation of recharge rate which parameters should be entered in Par_inf.txt . I have to predict recharge for my Gms model and I have to use swat for this goal. How can I calculate recharge after calibration of Swatcup. And my case study is located in mazandaran north of iran. are all the parameter entered in my swatcup model enough for calculation of recharge rate?
plz help me. I am stressed these days, since I have problem in running swatcup.
yours,
shaghayegh
