Subbasin-specific parameters not working in SWATplus-CUP; Should I use PolygonId instead of Subbasin #?

Hello,

I am having trouble making my parameters subbasin-specific to subbasins upstream of particular flow observations.

I have had little success. When I make the parameters subbasin-specific, I get statistical results similar to those achieved with no calibration at all and far lower than what I achieve when I make the same parameter choices without specifying subbasins. This leads me to believe the parameters are not changing as I desire.

Do you specify subbasins based on their subbasin # or polygonId in SWATplus-CUP? I'm wondering if that could be the problem.

Best,
Andrea

Hello,

I have attempted to alter parameters locally based on subbasins in SWATplus-CUP. I've tried using both subbasin numbers and polygon IDs, but neither works.

I've done runs setting parameter values to a single value without specifying subbasins and with specifying subbasins (trying both subbasin # and polygonId) and get vastly different results. The runs I attempt to alter parameters specifying subbasins after using the Utility Programs and double-checking the resulting upstream subbasins have statistics akin to those with parameters left unchanged.

The following is the format I used to set parameter values:

r__CN2.mgt________33,5,9-11,14-15,17-18,20-22,24-26,30,32,34,36-41,44,48-49,51-54,56,59-60,63,66,72-73,78,80,84,91-92 -0.137667       -0.137667
r__SOL_AWC().sol________33,5,9-11,14-15,17-18,20-22,24-26,30,32,34,36-41,44,48-49,51-54,56,59-60,63,66,72-73,78,80,84,91-92 -0.889250       -0.889250
v__GWQMN.gw________33,5,9-11,14-15,17-18,20-22,24-26,30,32,34,36-41,44,48-49,51-54,56,59-60,63,66,72-73,78,80,84,91-92 1538.583374      1538.583374

Has anyone had success calibrating specifying subbasins in SWATplus-CUP?

Please assist,
Andrea

Hello,
You have to extract based on the units number. Don't use gis_id or name. Subbasin 355 is unit 352. You are extracting subbasin 358 now.
It is the unit number that is sequential, so must use that.

Thank you so much for pointing that out! I'll have to redo all of my analysis.

If possible, could that information go in the manual or tutorial videos for SWATplus-CUP?

Best,
Andrea

P.S.  I'll go back to an earlier email I sent in the google group and update the correct answer for how to retrieve channel observations in SWATplus-CUP.
