Error in SWAT-CUP simulation ?

Hi Abdelhak,

I never had this problem before so I'm not sure what's the issue, but since the error message says you have problem in simulation number 2 in variable file 1, can you upload the following files?

SUFI2_extract_rch.def, observed.txt, observed_rch.txt, var_file_name.txt, var_file_rch.txt and file.cio,

Hi Abdelhak, 

A few things here to notice:

1. I noticed that your end year is 1999, and 1999 is not a leap year, so in your file.cio, ending Julian day of simulation should be 365, not 366. But meanwhile, your observed data seems to ends in August 1999, and because I don't know if your model did end at August 1999 or it ends at the end of 1999 and you just don't have observed data, you need to modify your ending julian day in file.cio. 

2. When you prepare your observed_rch.txt and observed.txt file, make sure your observation starting time excludes the warm up period. In your SUFI1_extract_rch.def file, your extraction starts at 1983, and you skipped first 2 years based on your file.cio. In that case, your time series in observed_rch.txt and observed.txt should start from Jan-1983, not Jan-1981. So you need to delete the first 2 years of observed data, and rearrange your ID (instead of 1 for 1981-1, use 1 for 1983-1). 

These are the problems based on the file you provided. But if there's still error message then there might be some other problems. But just try it out first.

Hi Abdelhak,

This is a common error message regarding your climate data, and it's not just pcp1.pcp file that would have this problem, but also would happen to tmp1.tmp, slr.slr, wnd.wnd and hmd.hmd. For now, please send the pcp1.pcp file and I'll confirm if you are having the issue that I thought it was.

If you take a look at the pcp1.pcp file, you'll see that there are some -099.0, and it's causing an extra digit so that this section is not aligned with other lines, in order to fix this, for pcp1.pcp file, replace -099.0 with -99.0. If this message occurs for slr.slr, hmd.hmd and wnd.wnd, replace "-0099.000" with "-0099.00". All of these modification are meant to make the lines in these files aligned.

Hi,

I believe the error message you are encountering may be due to incorrect data formatting, despite using -99 to indicate missing data. This could lead to the file becoming unreadable at some point, as seen in the screenshot you provided. Make sure that your input files adhere to the required format outlined in the documents provided.

In that case I'm not really sure why because my file has exactly the same format and I didn't get error message.
