Dear SWAT-CUP Users
I'm using SWATCUP 5.1.6.2 version for SWAT 2012 (ArcSWAT 2012.10_1.15) model and I am using in 32 bit processor. Arc SWAT was run successfully and didn't have any error and imported the files to database and saved the simulation so that it has displayed in the Scenarios "TablesOut" folder.
I am getting error in the SUFI2_run.bat and SUFI2_post.bat (forrt1: error <65> floating invalid) Even I left for almost 2 hour running the SUFI2_pre.batand it is still running.
I am trying to calibrate 16 parameters with 100 simulations in a daily basis. The parameters are:

r__CN2.mgt                                    35  ---   98.0
v__ALPHA_BF.gw                          0.0 --- 1.0
v__GW_DELAY.gw                        0.0---  500
v__REVAPMN.gw                          0.0---500
v__GW_REVAP.gw                        0.02----0.2
v__GWQMN.gw                            0.0---500
v__ESCO.hru                                  0.0---1.0
v__EPCO.hru                                 0.0---1.0
v__CANMX.hru                            0.0---10.0
r__SLSUBBSN.hru                       10.0---150.0
v__CH_N2.rte                             -0.01---0.3
v__CH_K2.rte                               0.0---150.0
r__SOL_AWC (1).sol                   0.0--1.0
r__SOL_K (1).sol                         0.0---2000
r__SOL_Z (1).sol                         0.0---3500
v__SURLAG.bsn                         1.0--

I want you also to make me clear which files are going to copy from the ArcSWAT project directory in to the SWAT-CUP directory so that I will have to achieve the link between the input/output of a calibration program and the model. (Because some doubts strike to me is which ArcSWAT files are to be linked in SWAT CUP project which is used for calibration). I herewith Attached you the Screen shots. I look forward your valuable suggestion

Best regards

… please look at the swatcup manual at least once before running the calibration program. You should at least know what r__ or v__ mean or what the swat parameters mean.

Dear friend! I do have the same problem with SWAT-CUP. So, if your problem is resolved would you share your success stories.

Hi,

You have specified wrong values for parameters. You may want to refer to the parameterization in swat cup section pg 41 in swat cup manual and that should solve the problem.

Best wishes,
Eeshan

Dear Eshan Kumar,
Based on your comment I have checked SWAT-CUP manual pp 41. But, on this page there is only description of cods, there is no any value of parameter. So, would you please make more clear by mentioning the wrong value taken by him and indicating the correct value, so that we can identify or locate where our problems lays. Thank you very much in advance for your kind help.
Regars,

For example: "r__CN2.mgt                                    35  ---   98.0" does not makes sense. "r" means that the existing parameter value is multiplied with by (1 + a given value) and if the CN2 is already say 70 then after multiplying it may reach to an unrealistic value. You may also refer to SWAT theoretical documentation to see what value a parameter may take.

Dear Eeshan, Thank you very much for your valuable comment. Actually, the min and max value of all parameter is available with in the SWAT-CUP under par.inf.txt - Absolute-SWAT-Variables.txt. The min and max value of CN2 also taken from this data base, so where is the mistake lays, on top of this there is a warring in the same place which say that " If you choose "v" for spacial parameter such as soil parameter and CN2 then you will lose your spacial variable".  On top of this the calibration inputs- par.inf.txt needs min. and max. value of each parameter, which is already specified under the folder Absolute-SWAT- Variables.txt. For this reason I am confused with the comment given.Hoping to hear from you soon and also thank you in advance for your kind help.

Dear Dr. Karim

I have read the user manual and changed the parameters range using the ranges from the Absolute_SWAT_Value.txt files and for the parameters specification I have used the r__for the spatial and v__for the non-spatial parameters. Besides, the SOL_K (1).sol, SOL_AWC (1).sol, SOL_Z (1).sol have changed to SOL_K ().sol, SOL_AWC ().sol, SOL_Z ().sol respectively for all the layers of all the HRU. The SUFI2_pre.bat and SUFI2_run.bat finish the process. However there is still getting error in the SUFI2_post.bat I herewith write the error displayed and attached the screen shot.

When you use r__ it means a relative change of a few percentages. Therefore you should not use a range of 35 to 98. It should be something around +/- 2 to 3 percents, meaning -0.2  to  +0.2

But this may not be your problem either. You have to look at the timing carefully, the time swat simulates as stated in file.cio and the time you specify in the extract file. They should match.

Dear Dr. Karim,
Thank you very much for your fast response and kind help! I understand the range now. When I have changed the ranges  I am still getting the error Massage.

Is timing mean the time series of the observed values? If so I have checked and it is okay!
Herewith I have attached the file.cio and the SUFI2_extract.rch file to have a look.

Thanking you,

Best, Gebremedhin

Dear Dr. Karim,
I thank you very much for your endless support! I have solved the problems running the SUFI2_post.bat with your great help but when I run 16 parameters with 100 simulations I got R2=0.13 and NSE= -0.03. I need your valuable suggestion

Hi,
Would you please share how to solve this error that comes when run Post_bat.

All ranges in my files and timings for my 490 observation points (discontinuous observations) are Ok. Just to track where the error is, I tried to run the project with other observation dataset (actually it's the same to the current one but with less observed points, just 455) and works good with this file.

I know SWAT CUP accepts a wide range of observations points, therefore I'm not sure what I did wrong...Below my file.cio and SUFI_extract_rch.def:

File.cio:
General Information/Watershed Configuration:
fig.fig
13    | NBYR : Number of years simulated
1992    | IYR : Beginning year of simulation
1    | IDAF : Beginning julian day of simulation
365    | IDAL : Ending julian day of simulation
............
............
Output Information:
1    | IPRINT: print code (month, day, year)
3    | NYSKIP: number of years to skip output printing/summarization

-SUFI2_extract_rch.def
output.rch     : swat output file name
1              : number of variables to get
6         : variable column number(s) in the swat output file (as many as the above number)

38              : total number of reaches (subbasins) in the project

1              : number of reaches (subbasins) to get for the first variable
36        : reach (subbasin) numbers for the first variable

1995           : beginning year of simulation not including the warm up period
2001           : end year of simulation

1              : time step (1=daily, 2=monthly, 3=yearly)

Best,

Carlos

Hi,

I found out the error from my previous post was because of a duplicate observation in my dataset.

Best,

Carlos
