Hi all,

I'm running calibrations for sediment, and I'm having some problems.  First I used the following parameter set and ranges:

Name              Minimum Maximum
v__CH_N2.rte      0.29      0.3
v__CH_K2.rte      105.8     105.9
v__GW_REVAP.gw        0.05      0.06
v__GWQMN.gw           0.23      0.24
v__ALPHA_BF.gw  0.99 1.0
v__GW_DELAY.gw  0.0 0.1
v__LAT_TTIME.hru  75.63 75.64
r__CN2.mgt  0.07 0.08
v__EPCO.hru  0.01 0.02
v__ESCO.hru  0.01 0.02
v__RCHRG_DP.gw  0.36 0.37
v__PLAPS.sub  99.58 99.59
v__TLAPS.sub  0.0 0.1
v__PRF.bsn  0.38 0.39
v__ADJ_PKR.bsn  1.8 1.9
v__SFTMP.bsn  4.9 5.0
v__SMFMN.bsn  0.0 0.1
v__SMFMX.bsn  8.53 8.54
v__SMTMP.bsn -1.49   -1.48
v__SNO50COV.bsn  0.98 0.99
v__SNOCOVMX.bsn  347.81 347.82
v__SURLAG.bsn  13.20 13.21
v__TIMP.bsn  0.37    0.38
v__EVRCH.bsn  0.72 0.73
v__EVLAI.bsn  2.58 2.59
v__USLE_P.mgt  0.0 1.0
v__SLSUBBSN.hru  10.0 150.00
v__RSDCO.bsn  0.02 0.1
v__SPCON.bsn  0.0001 0.01
v__SPEXP.bsn  1.0 15.0
v__CH_EROD.rte -0.05 0.6
v__CH_COV.rte -0.001 1.0

I kept the range of flow parameters very small since I didn't want them modified.  After running 500 simulations, I got results which over-estimate sediment by at least an order of magnitude (NSE = -373!).  The power-point on SWAT's website suggests two other parameters for sediment (SLOPE and USLE_C).  I was able to get the SLOPE parameter in, even though it seems to have a different name in SWAT-CUP (HRU_SLP) than it does in the swat2009 database file (SLOPE).  I've still been unable to get the USLE_C parameter to work though.  When I run calibration, it says there is no .crp file, which indeed there is not.  If I look in the the Absolute_SWAT_Values.txt file, it's listed under the .crp file though.  I'm wondering what this refers to then?  There IS a crop.dat file, but I don't know how to reference that in the parameter list, if this is indeed the correct file.

Thanks,

~Mike

You have too many parameters! Some with such small ranges that you may as well fix them....
The SLOPE has changed in SWAT to HRU_SLP in hru files use local sensitivity to test the sensitivity of different sediment related parameters and determine with one is important and can effectively be used to decrease the sediment load.. this should not be too difficult knowing the parameters in the USLE..

Best, Karim

Thanks Karim.  I think I was getting errors when I tried to fix parameters, ie make min and max the same.  I'll give it another shot though.
