Flow Calibration Issue

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible there might be a file the SWATplus-CUP folder that effects the results that SWAT+ provides (see below for a further explanation)? For some reason, I am not obtaining the same results when I run the the SWAT+ executable file in the SWATplus-CUP folder as I do in my TxtInOut folder. I have had success calibrating my model for flow with previous versions of SWATplus-CUP and only started having issues when I updated the software.

I first noticed the issue when I tried a practice calibration run and the results were not what I expected. I then tried running just the SWAT+ executable file in both the TxtInOut folder and in the SWATplus-CUP folder. I was careful to make sure that I copied the same exact executable file into each folder and still the results were not the same. I also tried copying and running the executable file in the SWATplus-CUP backup folder, which gave the results I expected. This leads me to believe there may be a file in the SWATplus-CUP folder that is effecting the results from SWAT+.

For reference, my SWATplus-CUP and TxtInOut folders can both be found here.

Thank you!

Joshua

Make sure you are running the same version of the program. Different versions of swat+ can produce widely different simulations. Use your own version and call it swatp in the swatpluscup folder.

Thank you for your help! I was careful to put the exact same executable file into each folder and the results are still different. You can see in the two attached output files that the same version of SWAT+ was used, but different results were obtained. One of the output files is from the backup folder and the other is from the main folder.

Then you must have different files in the two folders.

I reran everything twice over the weekend so that I could be absolutely sure that I wasn't wasting someone's time with my question and today I ran everything once more just to be sure. Here are the steps I followed.

1. I set up the SWATCUP-plus project as described in your tutorials.
2. I replaced the SWAT+ software with my current version.
3. I ran SWAT+ in both the main folder and in the backup folder for comparison (i.e., the only difference is the SWATplus-CUP files).

Following those steps provides significantly different average annual flow outputs (averaged across all channels) in the main (0.07 m^3) and backup folders (1.21 m^3), which means the SWATplus-CUP files have altered something and I cannot figure out what.

My SWATCUP-plus project can be found here.

Why are you working with the backup folder? You are not suppose to do anything there. Are you changing any parameters?

I am working in the backup folder only to determine the source of the discrepancies between my SWAT+ project and my SWATplus-CUP project. I reasoned that because the backup folder should be an exact copy of the main folder (except for the SWATplus-CUP files) then any differences would be due to the SWATplus-CUP files.

Hello,

I still haven't resolved the issue described above and I would really appreciate any help that could be provided. I tried setting up a new SWATplus-CUP project in a different location and I'm still obtaining incorrect results. Nothing has changed between my SWAT+ project (first image below) and SWATplus-CUP project (second image below). The screenshots below show that I'm using the same version of SWAT+ but my flow estimates are an order of magnitude too low.

Dear Joshua,

Unfortunately I am running into the same problem you did. For some reason, there is a discrepancy between the output from SWAT+ Editor and the SWATPlus-CUP even though I am using the same version of the program and I double checked that all of my inputs were the same. Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

Please let me know at your earliest convenience, and have a great day!
