Salary: Grade 7, GBP 31,866 - GBP 33,797 per annum
Contract Type: Fixed-term for 5 months to start as soon as possible.

Are you a talented and ambitious roboticist with experience in multi-robot systems (for example collaborative teams, networked robots, distributed autonomous systems, or swarms)? Are you looking forward to an exciting opportunity to identify and analyse the most significant theories and practical insights of your field?

We are recruiting two Research Associates for the "Multi-Robot Systems" project, which seeks to develop a comprehensive review of the rapidly growing field of multi-robot systems, the trends through time in capability, and possible barriers to developments. The project, led by Dr Roderich Gross, is funded by DSTL, a Government agency of the United Kingdom. It will offer a rigorous analysis of the most significant theoretical and practical findings of the field. It will be broad in scope (i.e. not limited to specific applications). Its results may be released into the public domain in full or condensed form.

You will work within the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield (a world top 100 university). The department has been ranked 3rd in the UK in "General Engineering" according to the most recent REF 2014 assessment. You will join the Natural Robotics Lab (https://naturalrobotics.group.shef.ac.uk) and Sheffield Robotics (www.sheffieldrobotics.ac.uk).

You will have a PhD (or be close to completion) in robotics or a related discipline. You will bring extensive experience in studying multi-robot systems, for example, algorithm design, formal analysis, simulation, prototyping, or experimentation. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, and includes considerable scope for creativity.
