SPAM

Before we started this email list, I rarely received Spam in my gmail account. Now I get upwards of 25 a day in my spam folder. I think a bot is scraping our email addresses off the google groups page. Thoughts?

   I have concluded the same thing.  Z...@TampaAD.net _never_ got spam.  Who knew about it?  Who has access to the account list on (my) server?

 

   No, all the spam started after we set up this Google Groups thing.  I don't want to complain, though.  If I gotta wade through it to have our email list, I'll wade through it.

 

   Still, 5 months of email was a LOT of warnings that my cloud service had expired.  I don't use the cloud, and my Linux boxes don't have that antivirus system installed.  Oh, and my laptop doesn't have a camera so regardless of what I've done, no you did not record it.

I do find Google very good at sorting all the spam into a spam folder. Very little finds it way into the general email...

I use gmail on my phone. I agree, I don't get much spam there. What I
get instead is 5-10 ads per day from companies that have paid Google to
push their products. No, I can't prove that, but it makes sense. Why
do those ads get through? It's because Google WANTS them to get
through.

I'll try to implement spam detection on my email server.

I don’t have this issue. Your problem may have another source, Mike.
