So ... as my Swarm Zombie story was escaping from my wacked out brain (at this point, the zombies are brain-dead wounded Citizens and Concubines), it occured to me that Swarm Cycle canon says that sa'arm units separated into groups small enough (or separated from the hive mind) are too stupid to function. So they are sa'arm zombies - right? I'm thinking of the SOL halloween writing contest.

Sounds right to me.  Sa’arm collections of under 4 are about useless for anything but grazing. And reproduction.

Thinker/Fred -
If I can get it to jell, the story will probably be non-canon. I'm thinking of a young girl who finds a single sa'arm egg, takes it home to hatch and since it is not associated with a gestalt (one non-canon element), it imprints on her (like a duckling) . Eventually she takes the immature unit trick or treating...

2in the other story, the zombie is human not a sa'arm unit. Fred, I remember that story as well, but not the title.

(Wading through all the spam and finding the occasional human-written email)

Mike, the numbers that we hashed out should be in the wiki.  Lemme see...
and

So yes, they are zombies.  But it takes a LOT of distance to be 'away' from the gestalt.

Thanks ZM. Glad you are awake and rolling!

Actually, Thinker gave me the clue I needed to make this story work. The Sa'arm Zombie can be in a colony - alone for a reason to be announced.

The Boss didn't override you at all. Just reminded me I can use a sandbox to play in.

BTW - I'm re-reading some stories to research a different zombie story - and I'm finding all sorts of non-canon stuff buried and probably un noticed. Example: In Wayward the head of a cabal to take over a colony is actually the governor, who is removed and executed.
