RATS/Reply to 1722 Swann st developer

Hi!  In his email, the developer reported one exterminator visit to the 1722 Swann St lot and quarterly visits thereafter.  This is not enough.  The developer needs to get rid of the debris on the lot.

Dear Abrar,

Thanks for your June 27 email, which I have discussed with our neighbors. 

Good to hear that an exterminator treated the lot and put out bait stations.  Also that the lot is in a quarterly pest management program.  

That’s a start.  More is needed.  The removal of the loose wood pallets, discarded pipe and concrete detritus (see attached pictures) is essential, as this mess hosts multiple rat nests, as indicated by numerous sightings of rats from both the rear alley and now on the street-side as well.  The exterminator needs to return after removal to treat the burrows.  Removal of the large white bags would also help.

Rats are indeed an awful problem all over the District, as you say!  Removing the messy detritus and construction materials from the 1722 lot will help block beat this problem back on our block.
