Porchfestito Details

OK, sorry for sending this out so late, but I've been finalizing a few details and have been kind of busy with other stuff.

On Saturday (May 10) Porchfestito will feature two musicians:

5:30pm--6:30pm:  Nina (covers and original stuff), from up AdMo way, and 

6:45pm--7:45pm:  Joe (pop/rock covers from 70s thru today, maybe some original stuff), from around the corner.

Note that we're not paying Nina nor Joe anything:  both are playing for the fun of it and didn't express any interest in compensation...so pls be extra-generous with your applause!  And while as far as I know neither plans to set up Venmo codes or whatever, if they do pls consider contributing!

The lawn at 1724 will be available for spectators, and the parking spaces in front of the house will be clear of cars and blocked off with traffic cones to fit more spectators.  

It is important to note that the street WILL NOT be closed off, so people need to keep out of the street; I will put out some traffic cones to slow traffic, but be smart (and attentive!) about keeping people out of the road.

I'm hoping that Porchfestito will be an opportunity to relax and meet neighbors; as usual we have a fair number of new people on the block, and even many long-time residents don't know many people from across the street or down the block...or right next door...  While the Halloween party is great, in my experience it is not a great chance to meet neighbors because most of us are too busy shoveling out candy or grilling or whatever...so let's make the most of this opportunity!  Hopefully many of us will be sitting on our porches/stoops with friends,  so don't hesitate to introduce yourselves.  I will be making a batch of Tomgria, so pls come by 1729 for a taste if you dare.

As a reminder, unlike Halloween we're not setting up grills or providing any food, but feel free to share food with attendees if so inclined.

After the event--about 8 pm--it would be really great if a handful of people could help me pick up any trash and stuff from the street.  If you can help out, pls just show up in front of 1729 at 8pm.

Finally, I should point out that Porchfestito is a pilot project; depending on how it goes we can consider having it again next year (or not).  After the event I'll send out an e-mail asking for feedback and we can discuss whether to have it again and if so, how to improve.  Any incidents of mayhem and/or general ass-holery during the event will weigh heavily against a repeat or could even force me to pull the plug mid-event.
